UCLAN STUDENTS SEEK OUT THE MAGIC IN MERLIN'S BLACKPOOL ATTRACTIONS

Earlier this week 30 students from the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) joined forces with Merlin Entertainments Blackpool Cluster as part of their annual visit to review their attractions accessibility and health and safety protocols.

The students, who are currently studying International Tourism at the Preston based University, carried out a number of case based projects including visitor satisfaction surveys, health and safety audits and disability accessibility throughout The Blackpool Tower Dungeon, Madame Tussauds Blackpool, SEA LIFE Blackpool and the iconic Blackpool Tower.

The students re-created a selection of visitor journeys throughout each attraction, noting how easy or difficult it was to navigate around and how safe they felt. They were then tasked with presenting their findings to their course tutors and members of Merlin Entertainments Senior Management Team.

Head of The Blackpool Cluster Iain Hawkins said;
“We were delighted to welcome the students from UCLan into our attractions for their annual visit. This forms part of a long-standing relationship with the university to find the Tourism stars of the future!

“Their fresh feedback is invaluable and not only enables us to make enhancements within our attractions but also allows the students to see Tourism in action here in Blackpool.”

UCLan’s Dr Carley Sutton added:
“The students were all extremely excited to be given the opportunity to work closely with a leading attraction operator such as Merlin Entertainments and develop new skills to assist with the rest of their course.

“They benefit immensely from our annual visit to Blackpool as it gives them the opportunity to enhance their career prospects and employability skills. And where better to do that than here in the tourism capital of the North!”
